<p>PURPOSE: To provide a seal device for the end of a hollow shaft having internal splines extending through the shaft into a longitudinal passageway. CONSTITUTION: A locking member 18 and a sealing member 11 are rotatably mounted within the hollow part of a shaft 1 and external toothed splines 19, 14 are provided on the respective outer peripheries of the locking member and the sealing member to engage the internal toothed splines 6 of the shaft. An O-ring 24 is provided in the fitting part 12 of the sealing member and pushes the sealing member into the shaft to provide a seal. The length of a seal device is set so that the locking member extends beyond a plane P2 to disengage splines 18. A spring 26 which biases the locking member in a rotating direction relative to the sealing member is provided in the interior 25 of the sealing member and a control knob 17 is locked to the axial end of the locking member so that the sealing device can be withdrawn by rotation of the knob.</p> |
