FILTER REGENERATION DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To prevent hindrance form being exerted on operation of an engine by burning and eliminating effectively particulates collected by a filter without raising the temperature of the filter excessively. CONSTITUTION:A filter regeneration device for an internal combustion engine is provided with a heating chamber 22, a filter 23 stored in the heating chamber 22, a micro wave generation means 24 for generating micro wave for heating particulates, a gas supplying means 29 for supplying gas for burning the particulates, and a control unit 34 for controlling the micro wave generation means 24 and the gas supplying means 29. The gas supplying means 29 is driven intermittently at the intermediate period of burning of the particulates so as to uniform the temperature distribution of the diameter cross surface of a filter 32, and burn and eliminate the particulates accumulated in the filter 32.
