PURPOSE:To provide a phenol resin binder composition which gives mold lubrication properties during molding without deteriorating the strength properties of a molded product, and further, a method of manufacturing a molded board using the phenol resin binder. CONSTITUTION:This phenol resin binder composition with superb mold lubrication properties contains 0.1 to 20wt.% of wax having a melting viscosity of not more than one poise at 150 deg.C and a compatibility with phenol resin of 5% or lower at 150 deg.C. After mixing the phenol resin binder composition with a fibrous material, a fleece is formed and then is molded into a specified shape by press to obtain a molded board. Thus the mold lubrication properties during press molding are improved significantly and this improvement effect lasts for a long time. Further, the moldable finishing effect and the post-molding shape stability increase, and the surface smoothness of a molded product improves, and the reject rate of the molded product decreases widely. |
