BIOREACTOR USING GEL AGGREGATE CONTAINING IMMOBILIZED BIOLOGICAL CATALYST

PURPOSE:To enlarge the mesh of a strainer for separating a gel from a treated water not to generate clogging by constituting a bioreactor in such a way that a gel containing an immobilized biological catalyst flows in a container and a gel aggregate also flows in a reactor. CONSTITUTION:It is necessary for a container constituting a gel aggregate to have an enough water permeability so as to make a reaction fluid (ordinarily, a water soln.) reach the gel and to have an enough gas permeability so as to make oxygen (air) reach the gel in the case of aerobic reaction. Namely, it is a gel aggregate wherein the gas permeability is at least 1ml/cm<2>.sec and the vol. is not changed by aeration and stirring actions in the reactor and a gel containing an immobilized biological catalyst of less than 40% to the vol. of container is filled in the container with a vol. of at most 5l. Specific gravity of this gel aggregate is constituted to be 0.99-1.1. The gel aggregate is fed into the reaction tank so as to fill it less than 40% of the vol. of the reaction tank. The gel is divided and separated thereby in the container.
