<p>The nozzle inlet is surrounded by a cylindrical sleeve which extends radially into the chamber, and a calibrated aperture is provided in the sleeve at the level of the nozzle inlet to allow molten plastic which has been flung outwardly by centrifugal action to pass from the chamber into the nozzle. The size of the aperture is such that the flow rate through it is less than the max. possible flow rate through the nozzle so that the plastic is extruded as a capillary filament. Pref. the nozzle inlet is provided with a channel from which plastic overflows into the nozzle. The filaments are used in de-salination or filtering plants, or for producing heat insulating clothing or pannels.</p> |
