PURPOSE:To improve the roughness of work surface and machining efficiency by controlling the width of electrospark machining gap to an optimum value through detecting if any self-maintaining arc discharge has occurred. CONSTITUTION:When more than a fixed number of self-maintaining discharge pulses are generated continuously or said discharge pulses continue for a fixed period of time, a self-maintaining detector 8 operates so that the signal to this effect may be fed to a differential amplifier 9. The output of said differential amplifier 9 is compared with the reference value from a reference-value setting device 6 for controlling a motor 7 in accordance with the result of this comparison. Thereby, the width of electrospark machining gap is controlled much accurately to an optimum value. Thus, electrospark machining can be made in optimum condition. |
