performing the mode for fast forwarding the tape for a predetermined time when the recording tape is newly mounted in the deck; performing the mode for rewinding the fast forwarded tape with high speed for a predetermined time; detecting a control signal from the tape with in the rewinding mode; displaying that there is the recorded content or not; and fast forwarding the deck having the tape upto the position where the control is not detected any more when there is the first display, and fast rewinding until the control signal is detected.
