The invention relates to a method and a device for plant documentation, a plant or a plant section (8, 10) being photographed from at least two directions by means of a photographic apparatus (1) which exhibits a measuring grid plate (1a) in front of the plane of the film. The photographs (A) obtained are digitised and then evaluated by means of the CAD method. It is provided that for a three-dimensional presentation of the plant, centre lines (13) are separately determined for individual plant sections (8, 10) and that a three-dimensional image (model (C)) of the plant is generated by means of the CAD method from the course of the centre lines (13). For the purpose of plant documentation, a CAD system (3) is preceded by an interface (2) which is supplied with the photographs (A) produced by means of the photographic apparatus (1). The interface (2) comprises, arranged following one another, a digitising device (5), a device (6) for determining the centre line (13) and a correction device (7). The CAD system (3) can be followed by a screen (4).
