The device (5) comprises tongs (11) for gripping the container (2), means for pivoting the tongs (11) about an axis (12) substantially horizontal with respect to a support (51) of the device in order to pivot the container (2) about said axis (12), a member for processing said container, and means for displacing the processing member with a motion relative to the container (2) between a first position wherein the processing member is separate from the container when the tongs (11) are in a gripping position, and a second position wherein the processing member is in its processing position with respect to said container (2) inside or at the vicinity of said container, when the tongs (11) are in a processing position. It further comprises means for actuating simultaneously means for pivoting the tongs (11) and means for displacing the processing member (16) with a motion relative to the container (2).
