<p>A power supply system (11) for a general purpose computer has plural power supplies (A and B) for powering selected groups of components. One of the power supplies serves a keyboard (25) and a keyboard controller (23), and the keyboard controller (23) is configured to turn the other power supply or supplies on and off in response to user input at the keyboard. The use of separate power supplies increases the efficiency of the computer when operating in reduced power modes.</p> |
