PURPOSE:To prevent the accumulation of paper dust and cracking of protecting layer and obtain a thermal head of high reliability by providing electrode layers of a specific shape and multilayer structure and protecting layer on the heating resistor provided on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A thin film of a heating resistor 2 is formed on the glazed surface of a heat-resistant and insulation type substrate 1 such as of ceramics Cr electrodes 3 of about 0.2mu in film thickness and Au electrodes 4 of about 0.5mu in film thickness are laminated threron to form wiring patterns, following to which Au electrodes 5 of about 2 to 5mu in film thickness are formed in the portions other than those where thermographic paper contacts and finally a protecting layer 6 is so formed that its both side end parts cover at least a part of the Au electrodes 5, whereby the thermal head is obtained. Namely, the Au electrodes 5 are formed at least excluding the portions making contact to the thermographic paper and so that the end part s of the heating part side of the electrodes 5 enter the underside of the protecting layer 6. |
