<p>Open loop phase error estimation methods, particularly for use in GMSK receivers in mobile channels, are disclosed. After conversion to baseband complex signals, an m-th power phase estimator strips the data contribution from each symbol, leaving only the phase error. That phase error is then averaged over a time window, which may be of fixed length, or whose length may be changed adaptively. After correction of possible phase ambiguities, the resulting average phase error is used to correct the baseband signal.</p> |
