In a valve gear a rocker arm (1), actuated by a cam (7), acts on an inlet and exhaust valve (2), the rocker arm (1) being supported on an abutment (3). Between the abutment (3) and a cylinder head (8) a support element (6) is provided, which is capable of sliding along a guide (13) in order to absorb deflection movements of the abutment (3). For infinitely variable adjustment of the support element (6) in relation to the cylinder head (8) it is proposed to arrange clamping elements (18) between clamping tracks (20, 21). The clamping tracks (20, 21) facing one another either parallel or in a wedge shape are assigned to the support element (6) and to the cylinder head (8). The clamping elements (18) can be transferred from a released position into a clamping position with the clamping tracks (19, 20). <IMAGE>
