Process for isolating the constituents of medicinal plants

A process for isolating the constituents of medicinal plants by disrupting the plant cells and subsequently removing the plant juice entails the disruption of the plant cells taking place in the presence of a solubiliser with a lipophilic action. The plant cells can be disrupted by compressing the plant material, but it is expediently carried out by chilling with subsequent rethawing. The solubiliser with a lipophilic action is added to the plant material preferably immediately before the compression or immediately before the chilling. It is possible to use as solubiliser a lipophilic solvent or else a compartmenting agent which comprises one or more from the group of polyethylene glycols, Cremophors, phospholipids and cyclodextrins and is able on disruption of the cells to produce local regions in the juice with different solution conditions.
