PURPOSE:To simplify the hardware structure of a printer by providing a cuing mark of a color having lower reflectivity than that of an ink coating region at a position corresponding to an ink coating region of a predetermined color of an ink ribbon, and providing more end marks each having lower reflectivity than that of the ink coating region than the cuing mark on the end of the ribbon. CONSTITUTION:A film ribbon 10 is moved in a direction of an arrow B to pass the front face of a reflection type photosensor 12. In this case, in case of a color film ribbon, a signal is output from the photosensor 12 by a black line 5, a black part 6 in case of the color film ribbon or by an aluminum foil 8 in case of a black film ribbon. That is, a light from a light emitting diode 12a is normally reflected on the film ribbon in case of the color film ribbon to conduct a phototransistor 12b and to output a high level signal to an output terminal S. On the other hand, when it passes the black line and the black part, the light of the diode 12a is not reflected on the ribbon. Thus, the phototransistor 12b is interrupted, and a low level signal is output to the terminal S. |
