Heat for melting the zinc and for the galvanising process is produced electrically by inductive coupling with a conductive sleeve in a tank of ceramic of low magnetic resistance. Specif. the bottom of the tank may be of concrete forming a trough round the outside of the tank. The lining of refractory blocks and the concrete sections carrying the induction coils may be set in ceramic.
