They have the formula (I) S-CH2-CHX-CO-Ser-Asn-Leu-Ser-Thy-Cys-Val-Leu-Gly-Lys-Leu-Ser-Glu-- Glu-Leu-His-Lys-Leu-Glu-Thr-Tyr Pro-Arg-Thr-Asn-Thr-Gly-Ser-Gly-Thr-Y. (where X is H, NH2, RCONH- or R'OCONH- where R is alkyl, aryl or aralkyl opt. substd. R' is alkyl or alkenyl or an opt. substd. aryl or aralkyl group and which cannot be eliminated by trifluoroacetic acid, Y is the group L-prolinamide or L-proline-L-valinamide) and in which the following replacements may be made. Ser by Thr or Aln; Asn by Asp, Glu, Gln; Thr by Ser or Aln; Lys by BOC - Lys, Orn or Arg; Gln by Glu, Asn or Asp; Glu by OTB-glu, Gln, Asp or Asn; Leu by Tyr; Tyr by Phenyl-Aln and Arg by Orn, Lys. Compounds (I) may be used in medicaments to lower the level of blood-calcium and to enhance bone mineralisation, together with pharmaceutically acceptable carriers.
