A tubular elastic support (10) is worn around the abdominal portion (12) of the torso (13) of a person who has an abdominal disfunction or disease requiring support of abdominal organs or tissue or who has an automatic implantable cardiac defibrillator (AICD) implanted subcutaneously in his abdomen. The support covers the area of this implant or such other abdominal area as is of interest. The support is a band (15) of open-weave elastic fabric (16) which either has its ends permanently connected (30) or which has its ends made releasably connectible (46, 47), depending upon how the support is to be applied around the torso. |
