PURPOSE:To form an image-displayed road map as the one easy to read and without incongruity in spite of the scale of a display range under a condition where the road map is image-displayed by setting the scale of the display range selectively and traveling course guidance based on the road map is performed. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with a map data supply part 10 which sends out wide area map data and detail map data, an image display part 11 which image-displays the road map shown in the wide area map data or detail map data, a guiding state setting part 12 which sets a traveling course guiding state selectively, and a map data processing part 13 which performs processing to form a display image so as to make the upper side of the image correspond to a north direction on the wide area map data when the road map shown in the wide area map data is image-displayed, and processing to form the image so as to make the upper side correspond to the advancing direction of a vehicle on the detail road map when the road map shown in the detail map data is image-displayed in the traveling course guiding state. |
