PURPOSE: To detect an exact motion vector by calculating the correlative relation of masked input data and determined representative point data to select a more exact representative point. CONSTITUTION: A filter 1 removes the noise of inputted digital video data. A mask-processing part 5 detects an edge value by calculating the correlative relation between the pixel values of video data passed through the filter 1 and the values of respective horizontally and vertically adjacent pixels. A representative point determining part 6 receives the masked input data, selects a maximum value out of respective motion vector detection region for each field and determines the position of that value as the representative point. A correlative relation calculating part 7 receives the masked input data and the representative point data, and calculates the correlative relation of these data within the fixed range of search regions. Therefore, the number of representative points required for calculating the correlative relation can be decreased, and the exact motion vector can be detected by selecting the representative point of the maximum value. |
