摘要 PURPOSE:To provide recording and reproducing with sufficient reliability by providing the surface of a substrate with recording films of an amorphous phase consisting of an alloy contg. at least Te and incorporating at least 1.5atm.% Ar into these films, thereby increasing a crystallization temp. and stably maintaining the recording state. CONSTITUTION:The first recording film 12 consisting of the GeSbTe alloy contg. Q at least 1.5atm.% Ar is formed on the substrate 11 consisting of a polycarbonate. The second recording film 13 consisting of a BiTe alloy is formed thereon. The film 12 is an amorphous phase in an initial state and the film 13 is a crystalline phase in an initial state. The information recording medium is irradiated with a laser beam 14 from the substrate 11 side in the case of recording of the information recording medium. The recording films 12, 13 are heated when the beam 14 arrives at the films 12, 13. As a result, the film 12 is crystallized and the constituting atoms are diffused at the boundary of the films 12, 13, by which these films are alloyed. As a result, The recording region 15 is formed the reflectivity of the region 15 is made larger than the reflectivity of the unrecorded region and, therefore, the recorded information is reproduced by irradiating the recording medium with the reproducing beam.
