The method for measuring the shunt current by using the difference of the electromotive forces induced from the both coils, has two opposite coils symmetrically arranged at the center of the welding electrode. The apparatus comprises a plate material having a through hole for inserting the electrode; a pair of coils each having the same diameter and the same winding number, symmetrically arranged at the insert hole; electrically connecting section for connecting the coils.
