1353625 Stabilized hydrogen peroxide solutions E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 25 June 1971 [25 June 1970] 30002/71 Heading C1A An aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution contains (a) sufficient alkali metal or ammonium stannate to stabilize the H 2 O 2 against decomposition in acidic conditions, (b) sufficient Mg ions (derived from a water soluble Mg salt having an anion inert to H 2 O 2 and said stannate) to stabilize the H 2 O 2 in alkaline conditions, and (c) sufficient alkylidene diphosphonic acid of formula (where n=0 to 5 and X is H or OH) or the ammonium or alkali metal salt thereof to prevent precipitation of the stannate in the. presence of the magnesium ions. Magnesium salts specified include the acetate, orthoborate, nitrate, fluorosilicate and sulphate. The solution may be acidic and may contain pyrophosphoric acid and/or a soluble pyrophosphate and/or a soluble fluosilicate and/or a source of nitrate ions (e.g. nitric acid, ammonium nitrate or an alkali metal nitrate). The compound in (c) may be methylene or ethylene diphosphonic acid or hydroxyl ethylidene-, propylidene- or butylidenediphosphonic acid or the ammonium or alkali metal salts thereof. |
