PURPOSE:To improve evidence character and data reliability by clearly reading both embossed image and picture image on the top of a card. CONSTITUTION:Light sources to be radiated to the whole top of the card 2 for reflection are composed of a regular reflection light source 3 provided at a regular reflection position to an image sensor 5 for reading the embossed image on the card 2 and a diffuse reflection light source 4 provided at a diffuse reflection position to the image sensor 5 for reading the picture image so as to form two optical systems. At the same time, this image reader is provided with an image synthesizing means synthesizing the embossed image and the picture image read from the two optical systems so as to faithfully read the whole image of the card 2. |
