PURPOSE:To provide a 2X2 optical fiber switch which does not require auxiliary drawing around of optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:A pair of the optical fibers 1, 2 and a pair of the optical fibers 2, 4 supported in a cantilever form are aligned opposite to each other in a square hole of an aligning member 30. Magnetic materials are fixed to the optical fibers 1, 2, 3, 4. Two pieces of switching means consisting of hollow solenoid coils, 81, 82, plural permanent magnets 51 to 54 facing to adverse plarality each other between two pieces of the optical fibers and struts arranged in parallel with the permanent magnets 51 to 54 facing each other between two pieces of the optical fibers are arranged around the optical fibers described above in such a manner that these means intersect orthogonally with each other. The optical fibers of the respective switching means move only in one direction but the two switching means intersect orthogonally with each other and, therefore, switching in two kinds of combination of the optical fibers facing each other is possible. |
