PURPOSE:To achieve higher detection sensitivity by increasing the ampitude of vibration. CONSTITUTION:Junction parts 30 and 31 of vibration parts 32 and 34 of the vibrator 10 are made of a material with a rigidity lover than that for forming an excitation side arm 12 and a detection side arm 22. When an AC voltage is applied to a piezo-electric element 18a for excitation to apply a vibration to vibration parts 32 and 34 in the direction of the (x) axis, a vibration waveform turns to a waveform similar to the figure of a chevron from a sinusoidal shape so that the amplitude at the junction parts 30 and 31 becomes larger than that when it is made of material of the same rigidity. When rotational angular velocity is applied about the (z) axis under the application of the vibration, a coriolis force proportional to the amplitude works on the vibration parts 32 and 34 to cause vibration in the direction of the (y) axis and an electrical signal is detected according to the condition of the vibration with piezo-electric elements 28a and 28b for detection. Thus, the amplitude and the electric signals detected are made large by lowering the rigidity of the junction parts 30 and 31 thereby upgrading detection sensitivity. |
