PURPOSE:To obtain a large output laser beam having excellent convergency with higher efficiency and reliability. CONSTITUTION:A recess 59 is provided to a part 512 corresponding to an exciting region of a retainer 5 of the side surface of slab 12 and a high reflectivity body 50 having a cooling water penetrating groove 502 at the surface opposing the slab is arranged with pressure into such a recess. The retainer 5 is arranged with pressure at both end portions 511 in the longitudinal direction of slab through a silicone rubber plate which is transparent for excited light beam. The cooling water is sealed with an O ring of the transparent silicone rubber which is arranged for full length of the circumference of the plane formed by the slab surface including the retainer press-contact portion 511 and the retainer 5 and the slab 1 is also elastically supported by such an O ring.
