PURPOSE:To clearly display images different in aspect ratio on a projection surface while using a liquid crystal display pannel whose aspect ratio is one to one by arranging a prism between a liquid crystal display pannel and a projection lens and arranging the liquid crystal pannel at a specific angle. CONSTITUTION:A projection lens is a thing for enlarging the image displayed on the liquid crystal display pannel 2, and a rectangular prism 10 is provided inside a main body case 1. Then, when an incident angle of a beam made incident on the light refraction surface 11 of the rectangular prism 10 from the liquid crystal display pannel 2 is defined theta1, an exiting angle of the beam exiting from the light refraction surface 11 of the rectangular prism 10 theta2, a width of an luminous flux made incident on the light refraction surface 11 of the rectangular prism 10 d1, the width of the luminous flux exiting from the light refraction surface 11 of the rectangular prism 10 d2 and the refractive index of the rectangular prism (n), the liquid crystal display pannel 2 is arranged at the angle shown by the relation for the liquid refraction surface 11 of the rectangular prism 10. |
