METHOD AND MACHINE FOR MANUFACTURING A SHEATHED WIRING LOOM

A method and machine for manufacturing a loom (33) of elongate elements such as electrical wires or pipes of finite length having at least one break-out point are disclosed, the loom being formed by wrapping its elements with a tape (31) of hot-melt insulating material rolled transversally around the loom and having the longitudinal edges (31a, 31b) joined by welding. Two rows of a plurality of rollers (9 to 14) contact and feed the loom (33) and the tape (31), the tape first being shaped to a V by a guide prior to said rollers, the rows of rollers defining between them a passage (18) for the loom open at the top and below successively a first horizontal guide (23) for folding down one of the sides of the V against the loom, a nozzle (36) blowing hot air into the angle formed by the folded side (31a) and the unfolded side (31b) of the V, and a second horizontal guide (25) for folding down the second side (31b) of the V onto the first side (31a) already folded down.
