In order to influence the air flow rate through the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine whose power is controlled by adjusting a throttle valve, it is proposed to provide in a manner known per se a cap-shaped contour in the intake manifold, the said cap-shaped contour "accompanying" the throttle valve over part of the adjustment angle. It is also proposed to make the cable pulley circular in the area of use but to attach it to the throttle valve eccentrically with respect to its geometric centre point. Thus, on the one hand a sensitive electromotive adjustment of the throttle valve in the idling range is possible and on the other hand a very direct response of the throttle valve to a movement of the accelerator pedal can be achieved. <IMAGE>
