The invention relates to a motor vehicle seat with a padded portion which can be transferred into a position which is raised with respect to the seat cushion, in order to provide a child seat, and with a side support for the child, which support can be brought about by pivoting an accessory on the backrest. For the purpose of universal use with an undisturbed sequence of movement, it is proposed to form the accessory by a head restraint which has side-pieces on its outer sides, which side-pieces can be swivelled around a swivelling axis beyond the horizontal into a downwardly pointing position.
