When measuring electrical capacitances of current and voltage values, frequent use is made of mostly hand-guided measuring probes, which are positioned on the object to be measured and sample, and optionally display, the quantities to be measured. If, in this case, a rigid measuring or sampling element strikes a positionally fixed live (voltage-carrying) body, the voltage carrier and the voltage display elements can undergo oscillations and irregularly changing measured values are then displayed. The invention serves the purpose of counteracting triggering of oscillation at the voltage carrier and display element, in conjunction with the measuring process in the case of electrical measuring probes, and of damping the oscillations produced. In order to achieve this object, according to the invention at least one of the two interacting measuring or sampling elements are cushioned with springs relative to the other. In this case, the tendency to oscillate is damped at a reduced oscillation amplitude, which, above all in the case of mechanical display of the measured value, is observable, for example, through reduced "jitter" of the display needle.
