<p>A pipe connector for attachment to a plain end pipe comprises a housing (2) for location over the pipe, an annular recess (4) formed in the inner surface of the housing (2), inlet means (10) for feeding a fluid under pressure into said recess (4), and a plurality of arcuate segments (14) witbin thc recess (4) movable, on the application of fluid under pressure to the recess (4), to operative positions gripping the pipe, the segments (14) carrying with them scaling means (16) which, on movement of the segments (14) into their operative positions, are moved into sealing engagement with the pipe to effect a fluid-tight seal between the housing (2) and the pipe.</p> |
