Automatic mounting and dismounting of the disc-like brushes 12, 13 on a floor treatment machine of the washing-drying type in which the brushes are secured to drive plates 14, 15 by bayonet-type connections comprising projections 20 and shaped slots 25, is facilitated by the provision in the machine of at least one rearward or lateral support 17 for the brushes corresponding to their working positions, and respective conical centring surfaces 21, 22 on the brushes and drive plates. To mount the brushes, the machine's drive plates are raised, the brushes are placed on the floor and the machine is advanced to the point where the support 17 abuts the brushes. The plates are lowered to bring together the centring surfaces. Running the motor forwards causes the projections 20 to engage the slots 25. The motor is reversed to dismount the brushes. <IMAGE>
