In the case of a power transmission cable in whose metal sheeting the screening function is integrated, a mechanically protected arrangement of an optical cable element on the outer conductive layer of the plastic insulation is ensured in that the optical cable element (6) is assigned supporting elements (7) on both sides whose radial height is at least equal to the radial height of the optical cable element and which are connected in a positively locking manner to the optical cable element (6). When an optical cable element is used which consists of a small tube (6) with optical fibres (20) arranged losely in it, the supporting elements (7) can be designed in the form of wires and can be embedded, together with the optical cable element, jointly in a flat plastic sheath (5). <IMAGE>
