Marking metal slabs - by fixing metal strips to slabs emerging from a rolling mill continuous casting appts

The slab is marked by affixing a small strip of metal bearing the appropriate identification marks to its narrow edge. The appts. consists of a stock of strips carried on a frame and means for fixing the strip to the narrow edge of the slab by nailing followed by welding. It is carried on a chariot so that it may be retracted when the marked slab has to move on for further processing.
