A process for the preparation of 8-N,N-dialkylaminotricyclo[5.2.1.02,6]decane by reaction of tricyclo[5.2.1.02,6]decan-8(9)-one with an amine of the formula HNR1R2, where R1 and R2 are each an alkyl radical having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, in the presence of hydrogen and a platinum-containing supported catalyst, preferably at elevated pressure and elevated temperature.
