PURPOSE:To obtain an epoxy resin composition which gives cured products of high stability and strength under elevated temperature conditions, useful for adhesive, etc., comprising a biphenol type epoxy resin and a curing agent of a specific polyhydric phenol resin as essential components. CONSTITUTION:This resin composition comprises (A) a biphenol type epoxy resin of formula I [R<1> is H, a halogen, a 1 to 10C alkyl, a phenyl which may be substituted, an aralkyl which may be substituted, an alkoxy; (m) is 0 to 5 on the average] and (B) a curing agent of polyhydric phenolic resin derived from a phenol compound bearing 2 or more hydroxyl groups as essential components. The component B is preferably a compound of formula II {A is a monovalent or a divalent group orginated from polyhydric phenol compound of formula III [R<2> is H, a 1 to 10C alkyl, a phenyl which may be substituted; p<1> is 0 to 2]; Y is a divalent group of formula IV [R<6> is H, a 1 to 10C alkyl, a (substituted) phenyl]; (n) is 0 to 10 on the average}. |
