PURPOSE:To impart synthetic fiber with water-absorption capacity excellent in washing durability by the graft-polymerization of the synthetic fiber with a specific monomer having an acidic group followed by treating with a hydrophilic-processing agent. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic fiber of polyamide-, polyester-, acryl-or polyolefin- type is subjected to graft-polymerization with a vinyl monomer having a cationic group, e.g. (meth)acrylic acid, itaconic acid or allylsulfonic acid followed by an alkali treatment. Subsequently, the synthetic fiber is subjected to water- absorption treatment with a hydrophilic-processing agent by a pad-dry-cure process or exhaustion process to impart the fiber with water-absorption capacity excellent in washing durability and water absorbing capacity and further with high electrostatic and SR properties. |
