<p>Injection moulding cpds. comprising polyethylene and polypropylene, suitable for injection moulding at a mass temp. of 200-330 degrees C under pressure 500-1500 atm.; are a mixture of (1) 40-60wt.% of a PE with density 0.940-0.965 g./cc., intrinsic viscosity 2-4.5 dl/g. measured in decalin at 130 degrees C; and (2) 40-60wt.% of a mixture of (a) 70-80wt.% of a PP of which 1wt.% is soluble in boiling toluene (wt. ratio PP : toluene = 5:95), and (b) 20-30wt.% of a PP of which >99wt.% are soluble in boiling toluene (wt. ratio PP : toluene = 5:95); with the provisos that (I) wt.% (1)+(2) = 100; (II) wt.% (a)+(b) = 100; (III) the PP's used under (a) and (b) have approx. the same mol. wt. distribution and intrinsic viscosities; and (IV) the absolute values of the intrinsic viscosities of (a) and (b) are 1-10. Compsns. are useful in mfre. of mouldings having a leather-like hand, e.g., car components such as dashboards.</p> |
