PURPOSE:To provide the subject process comprising a process for culturing a fine alga accumulating starch in its cell, etc., excellent in environmental pollution resistance and useful for producing the raw material used in chemical industry, etc. CONSTITUTION:The process for producing ethanol from the fine alga comprises culturing a fine alga accumulating starch in its cell, concentrating the culture slurry, holding the concentrated alga slurry in a dark and anaerobic atmosphere at a pH of 6.0-9.0 for producing the ethanol, separating and concentrating the ethanol, subjecting the residual fine alga-containing slurry to a methane fermentation, burning the produced fermentation gas containing methane, drying the residue of the methane fermentation, burning the dried residue, mixing the produced carbon dioxide with carbon dioxide by-produced in the production of ethanol, and subsequently using the carbon dioxide mixture in the fine algaculturing process. |
