<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of irregularity in printing density and to extend the life of a thermal head by controlling the energy of an energization pulse to respective heating elements on the basis of the temp. in the vicinity of a thermal head and the history and printing ratio of the printing data applied to the respective heating elements to efficiently and properly control the heat accumulation of the thermal head. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 11 has a plurality of heating elements and selectively applies an energization pulse to the respective heating elements to perform the printing of a character. In a control unit 30, a first control means controls the energy of the energization pulse by the respective heating elements on the basis of the history of the printing data applied to the heating elements and a second control means controls the energy of the energization pulse applied to the heating elements on the basis of the printing ratio of the printing data applied to all of the heating elements and a third control means is equipped with temp. detection means 41, 42 detecting the temp. in the vicinity of the thermal head 11 and controls the energy of the energization pulse on the basis of the detection results due to the temp. detection means.</p> |
