The case, esp. of glass fibre reinforced polyester resin, has a lower chamber in which the pressurised cables are terminated separated by a hermetically sealed dividing wall from the upper chamber in which the repeater cards are housed but with a valve between them which is opened by screwing on a cap holding a shield which shrouds the bolts holding the case together but which closes automatically when the cap is removed giving access to those screws. There is no loss of cable pressure during repeater maintenance. |
