Title cpds., esp. those where alkyl is Me and aminoacids are L- or DL-isomers, are sweetening agents. They are prepd. by standard methods e.g. condensing an aspartic acid with activated alpha-carboxyl, opt. protected beta-carboxyl and protected NH2 gps. with an alkyl glycinate, substd. in the alpha-posn by opt. substd. Ph or cyclohexyl.
