PURPOSE:To obtain a method for recording an efficient print at the time of using water base ink composition by providing the steps of forming an ink image wherein ink composition is discharged on an intermediate transfer medium having a surface carrying surfactant of specific HLB value and the image is transferred to a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:This recording method uses surfactant having an HLB value of 2-15 or preferably 4-13. That is, the surfactant 41 is sucked by a capillarity of a wick 42, and a surface of a resilient layer 11 is coated with the surfactant via the wick 42. An ink image 5 is formed on the coated surface by an ink jet recording head 2. The image 5 is formed at an accurate position without unreasonably extending or feeding for causing a large change at a position due to the presence of the surfactant. The image is carried to an opposed area of a pressure roller 4 upon rotation of a transfer drum 1, and transferred to a recording medium. In this case, the image 5 is completely peeled due to the presence of the surfactant. Thus, printing without transfer residue is conducted. |
