<p>PURPOSE:To provide a cast slab of improved quality by passing the molten steel containing bubbles which cause no chemical reaction through a cylindrical tube, and running the current in the axial direction of the tube to generate the pinch force and to make the combination of bubbles and inclusions afloat and removed. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel 2 containing bubbles 9 which unlikely cause chemical reactions is passed in a cylindrical tube 1 and the induced magnetic field is applied thereto, or the molten steel 2 is energized and the current 3 runs in the molten steel in the axial direction of the cylindrical tube, and the pinch force is generated in the molten steel 2 by the interaction of this current 3. The inclusions 7 and the bubbles 9 in the molten steel 2 are concentrated on the inner wall side of the cylindrical tube 1 by making use of the reaction force opposite to the pinch force to be generated by the density difference between the inclusions 7 and the bubbles 9 and that between the inclusions and the molten steel 2, and the combination 10 of the inclusions 7 with the bubbles 9 becomes afloat on the surface of the molten steel after passing the cylindrical tube 2 and is removed. This constitution removes the non-metallic inclusions 7 in the molten steel 2, and improves the quality of the cast slab.</p> |
