PURPOSE:To Provide a salicylic acid derivative providing heat-sensitive record ing materials excellent in the storage stability of developed images and also excellent in the storage stability of non-developed parts. CONSTITUTION:The zinc salt hydrate of a salicylic acid derivative of the formula (X1, X2 are H, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen; R is alkyl, aralkyl, aryl), e.g., 3- methylcarboxylaminosalicylic acid is added to a heat-sensitive recording material containing an electron-donating compound and an electron-receiving compound, or the zinc salt hydrate of the salicylic acid derivative is used as the electron- receiving compound of the recording material. The zinc salt hydrate is obtained by thermally treating a corresponding zinc salt anhydride in the presence of water. |
