The apparatus comprises a settling vessel (1) tapering downwards in a V shape and containing inclined lamellae (2). At the bottom (15) of the settling vessel (1) there is provided the take-off trunk (14) of a take-off unit (10) for sludge (9) made of a guided endless steel cable (11) having disc-shaped pushers (12, 13) attached at intervals on the steel cable (11). This take-off unit (10) transports by means of the pushers (12, 13) sludge (9) collecting on the bottom (15) to a discharge (19), from where the sludge (9) is transferred to a bag-like filter (24) where a further dewatering takes place.
