Sheep skins are degreased and treated by passing through pairs of pressure adjustable inlet and outlet rollers which are partly submerged in a bath containing a degreasing solution. The skins are sewn together after turning alternatively through 180 degrees, the hind part adjacent to the head part of the next skin, so forming an equal trapezium shape. Cutting takes place after tanning of the skins. Roller surfaces are either solid or resilient, depending on the skin condition. After leaving the pressure rollers the skins pass over preferably porous guide rollers.
|
