PURPOSE:To prevent definition from being overlapped with that of an already registered character string when newly defining a character string, to which meaning is added, such as a parameter name or a code number. CONSTITUTION:When an operator defines the new character string at a document preparing device while a document is prepared, a mode is switched, each time one character of the desired character string to be defined is inputted from a keyboard 11 to a key buffer, a character string forward matched with the inputted character string is retrieved from a reserved parameter name file registered on a magnetic disk device 13 and when there is any matched character string, the relevant character string is displayed on a display 14. When there is no matched character string and the instruction of character string input end is sent to a central processing unit 12, as the newly defined character string, that character string is registered on the reserved parameter name file, and the character string is inputted to the document under preparation. |
